Hi,
This picture was Scottish Rally 1985 and I am absolutely sure it was IN-NC 46 and not the car you are looking for.
Wolf, don't confuse yourself with the Audi Sport UK cars. My info is not 100% confirmed, but I am pretty sure while David Sutton built his own long Quattros, he never built a short Sport Quattro or S1, these were always cars loaned to him by Audi. Sport Quattros to appear in UK
Ulster 84 - Röhrl - IN-NC 46
Mouton started off her 1985 BRC campaign with the Sutton A2 "44 NMN", then
Circuit of Ireland 85 - Mouton - IN-YK 55
Scottish 85 - Mouton - IN-NC 46
Ulster 85 - Mouton (S1!) - IN-NP 62 (on German Zoll plates)
Manx 85 - Mouton (S1!) - IN-NL 16
Manx 85 - Wilson - IN-NC 25
First rounds 1986 before cancelling the program Mikkola with "44 WMN"
See Mouton in Scottish used the Röhrl Ulster 84 car. Wilson's Manx car was later destroyed in Bandama preparation. And also all the other Sport Quattros only had one-off appearances in UK. "44 WMN" is the only Sport (or in fact short) Quattro that ever got registered in UK and to my knowledge is IN-NT 2 after Mouton drove it on the RAC 84 (so it should have been available to UK but was never used during 85?). Sorry this info is slightly vague, as I also thought Demuth started RAC 86 in a Sport Quattro "44 YMN", which could however easily be a mix up (YMN-WMN)
None of the Evo versions Sport Quattro S1 was ever registered in UK, although David Sutton kept at least 3 of them: IN-NL 16 stayed in UK after Manx 85, IN-NY 18 stayed after RAC 85 (tho Röhrl made quite a mess of it) plus virgin chassis N°8. I am not sure if IN-NP 62 ended in David Suttons hands. This car did a rally in USA also in 85, which I don't know if it was before or after the Ulster. An interesting note here may be that Mouton in Ulster with IN-NP 62 did not drive in the works colours but in an all white car!
Finally in IN-NL 2: I have no photos of it, but I believe it only did 2 rallies, Acropolis 84 and 1000 Lakes 84, both Mouton. On RAC 84, as in the photo above with door number "Lombard Rally" 6, Mouton drove IN-NT 2, which could easily be mixed up with NL2
Cheers,
Chris
