In 1949 the Ferrari 166 SC n°344 driven by Biondetti-Benedetti won the Targa Florio (in that year Giro di Sicilia too).
I wish to know if this car had the spare wheel positioned at sight , outside of the rear bonnet, like the other 166 driven by Sighinolfi-Vallone on the same race. Usually the spare wheel was  inside of the rear bonnet.
I never was able to find any picture 3/4 back.

The "Carretto Siciliano" one of the first toys of the Marzotto brothers, very rich kids but also very fast drivers. From memory it started life as a Ferrari 166 but was upgraded to 212 specs with a very light and rather ugly coachwork. It ran at the Targa Florio and won the Giro di Sicilia in 51, was rebodied for the .52 Mille Miglia but destroyed before the race. I have only seen this bad photograph and a 1/43 scale model.  


The next Marzotto Special designed and built by Fontana with the same philosophy was this one wich also ran at the Giro di Sicilia, the Targa Florio, the Mille Miglia and the Monaco Grand Prix of 1952. I don't know if the racing numbers in the picture are of the Giro or the Targa (but not of the 1000 Miles). The car was later rebodied, then sold, crashed and burned.

Histoire de bien lancer le topic et puisqu'on est dans les GTO éclatons nous encore un peu! Là on les voit comme elles étaient vraiment, patinées, un peu chiffon par endroit, pas comme les piéces de musées super-hyper peaufinées de maintenant.

Another one of the same car: serial number 3451GT, sold 20 April 1962 at Pietro Ferraro who owned it until September (reg. number:13132L4 then TS50656). It has given the GTO the first victory in European Championship at this Targa (1st division III in GT) Thanks for the photo of the Carretto Siciliano, I try to find color pictures of the model and I will post them.

La Carrera 6 de Bourillot / Maglioli classée 5me. Le poly de la carrosserie était encore plus mince que sur une Alpine coque légère d'usine et aucune fixation ne résistait bien longtemps.
