Le Mans Classic 2016 :

Evening in the historical base camp of the GT40 team.

 

For his welcome party at Le Mans Classic 2016, on Friday evening, the European Ford GT Owners Club just booked a mythical place for our cars : the HOTEL DE FRANCE.

 

From 1966 to 1969, this hotel in a little village located forty kilometers from Le Mans, served as a base camp to the winning GT40, the pilots and the leaders of the racing team.

For four years, this is where the GT40 went by road to the circuit to win and will also return on their own.

It is the place where, during four years, the strategies where built and the victories celebrated.

 

In July 2016, we shall drive our Ford GT on the little roads used 50 years before, by the winning GT40.

We shall spend the evening in this famous "Hotel de France" completely full of memories.

We just booked the place for a cocktail with Champagne, and a gourmet dinner.

We have reserved parkings for our Ford GT on the small square in front of the hotel. We shall take amazing photos, and meet, glass in hand, famous drivers of the 24 hours, as well as stars of racing never missing to be in the hotel during that famous weekend.

 

For our accommodation we definitively booked the 35 rooms of a hotel located just 15 minutes from the circuit, with a secure private parking on asphalt.

As this number is likely to be insufficient, we also blocked an option in a second hotel as close to the circuit.

We shall come again on that question in 2015, with registration and deposits.

For those who do not know the « Hotel de France » in La Chartre sur le Loir, some word of history :

 

Opened in 1905, it remained owned by the same family for four generations. It is located about 40 km (27 miles) southeast of Le Mans. Few tens of kilometers that once echoed roaring racecar returning the hotel. Since the 50s, it was the base camp of racing teams participating in the famous " Le Mans 24 Hours." For twenty years, teams working on cars at night, preparing the cars for the next day. The DBR1 Aston Martin, Ford GT40 and Porsche 917 of the Team Gulf Oil are some race cars that shook the walls of the courtyard and place when the engineers came back to this base, propel the small roads in the direction of the circuit. Incredibly, this folklore lasted until 1970, when the mechanics of the three Gulf Porsche 917 drove them for the last time.

 

It's a long love story between the hotel and the race ... And this is necessarily a story that is still making dream the fans of the " 24 Hours « . Inside, the walls of the hotel are covered with wallpaper, exclusive made, telling this rare and beautiful story between the hotel and the race, the saga of these drivers, these teams and these iconic cars nesting there, the time of the competition. The beautiful story between the hotel and especially the race began when John Wyer, a very charismatic team manager, discovered the property in 1953. The location, of course, but also the quality of the restaurant were decisive. Wyer settled there a fallback position for his team and for as long as he remains involved in racing. The preparation of the cars was in the courtyard of the hotel ensued transport to the circuit by small tourist routes converging towards Le Mans.

 

The Hotel de France is always appreciated and frequented by the icons of motorsport. Many winners of the " 24 Hours ": Derek Bell MBE, Jacky Ickx, Phil Hill, Jochen Rindt , Bruce McLaren and Carroll Shelby, Sir Stirling Moss OBE, Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti and other drivers. Movie stars like Steve McQueen, the French President and the children of John and Robert Kennedy stayed at the Hotel de France.

 

The victory was celebrated at the hotel in 1959 when the Aston Martin DBR1, driven by Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori won the race for the Aston Martin team, driven by Wyer. For years, Wyer will drain the stables with which he has worked, Ford Advanced Vehicles, JW Automotive GT40 Mirage and even Porsche 917. All this beautiful world was based at the Hotel de France. But others, Ferrari, Chevrolet and Triumph departed from the hotel to the circuit. Many joyous events punctuate history of this special relationship between the hotel and the race, as this celebration in 2009 to mark the 50th anniversary of the victory of Aston Martin.

 

 

Parking in front of the Hotel de France , moves and buzzes still regularly crowded sports cars, classic motorcycles or when lovers or nostalgic visit the hotel to read the story and recover the atmosphere …

Soirée dans le camp de base des Ford GT40.

 

Pour sa soirée d’accueil au Mans Classic 2016, le Vendredi soir, le European Ford GT Owners Club vient de réserver un lieu mythique pour nos voitures : l’Hôtel de France.

 

De 1966 à 1969, cet hôtel de village, situé à une quarantaine de kilomètres du Mans, servit de camp de base aux GT40 gagnantes, aux pilotes et aux responsables des équipes de course.

Pendant quatre ans, c’est de là que les GT40 partirent par la route vers le circuit pour y gagner et y revenir également par leurs propres moyens.

C’est là que quatre années de suite, les stratégies se construisirent et que se fêtèrent les victoires.

 

En Juillet 2016, nos Ford GT roulerons sur les mêmes petites routes que les GT40 victorieuses.

Nous passerons la soirée dans cet « Hôtel de France » chargé de souvenirs.

Nous venons de réserver l’endroit pour un cocktail au Champagne et un dîner gastronomique.

Nous avons réservé des stationnement pour nos Ford GT sur petite place devant l’hôtel. Nous pourrons y prendre d’incroyables photos, et y rencontrer, verre en main, d’anciens pilotes des 24 heures ainsi que des vedettes de la course automobile ne manquant jamais l’occasion de loger dans l’Hôtel ce fameux weekend là.

Pour notre hébergement nous avons définitivement réservé les 35 chambres d'un hôtel situé à seulement 15 minutes du circuit, et disposant d'un parking privé et sécurisé, sur asphalte.

Comme ce nombre sera probablement insuffisant, nous avons aussi bloqué une option dans un second hôtel aussi proche du circuit.

Nous en reparlerons en 2015, en vous demandant de vous inscrire et de verser des garanties.

Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas l’Hôtel de France à La Chartre sur le Loir, un peu d’histoire :

 

Ouvert en 1905, il est resté propriété de la même famille durant quatre générations. Il est situé à environ 50 km au nord de Tours, clef des châteaux, et à 40 km (27 miles) au sud-est du Mans. Ces quelques dizaines de kilomètres qui résonnaient autrefois des rugissements des voitures de course regagnant l’hôtel. Depuis les années 50, il fût le camp de base des teams de course participant aux célèbres « 24 Heures du Mans ». Durant une vingtaine d’années, les équipes travaillaient sur les voitures, la nuit, préparant les bolides pour le lendemain. Les DBR1 d’Aston Martin, les Ford GT40 et les Porsche 917 de l’équipe Gulf Oil sont quelques-unes des voitures de course qui faisaient trembler les murs de la cour et de la place quand les mécaniciens les sortaient de cette base arrière pour les propulser sur les petites routes, en direction du circuit. Incroyablement, ce folklore a perduré jusqu’en 1970, année où les mécanos de Gulf convoyèrent les trois Porsche 917 pour la dernière fois.

C’est une longue histoire d’amour entre l’hôtel et la course… Et, c’est forcément cette histoire qui fait encore rêver les fans des « 24 Heures ». A l’intérieur, les murs de l’établissement sont recouverts d’un papier peint, une commande exclusive, racontant cette rare et belle histoire entre l’hôtel et la course, la saga de ces pilotes, de ces équipes et de ces voitures emblématiques nidifiant là, le temps de la compétition. La belle histoire entre l’hôtel et la course a surtout commencé lorsque John Wyer, un manager d’équipe très charismatique découvrit l’établissement en 1953. La situation géographique, évidemment, mais aussi la qualité du restaurant furent déterminants. Wyer installait là une base de repli pour son équipe et pour aussi longtemps qu’il restera impliqué dans la course automobile. La préparation des voitures se faisait dans la cour de l’hôtel, s’ensuivait leur acheminement vers le circuit par les petites routes touristiques qui convergeaient vers Le Mans.

L’Hôtel de France est toujours apprécié et fréquenté par les icônes du sport automobile. Beaucoup de vainqueurs des « 24 Heures » : Derek Bell MBE, Jacky Ickx, Phil Hill, Jochen Rindt, Bruce McLaren et Carroll Shelby, Sir Stirling Moss OBE, Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti et bien d’autres pilotes. Des stars de cinéma, comme Steve McQueen, des présidents français et les enfants de John et Robert Kennedy ont séjourné à l’Hôtel de France.

La victoire fût fêtée à l’hôtel, en 1959, lorsque l’Aston Martin DBR1, pilotée par Carroll Shelby et Roy Salvadori, a remporté la course pour le team Aston Martin, drivé par Wyer. Pendant des années, Wyer drainera les écuries avec lesquelles il aura travaillées, Ford Advanced Vehicles, JW Automotive GT40, Mirage et jusqu’aux Porsche 917. Tout ce beau monde était basé à L’Hôtel de France.

Le parking, en face de l’Hôtel de France, s’agite et bourdonne encore régulièrement encombré de voitures de sport, classiques ou motos, quand les amateurs ou les nostalgiques visitent l’hôtel pour relire l’histoire et recouvrer l’atmosphère.

3 WEEKS FROM LE MANS TO LE MANS.

Here is what seems to me, an excellent news for the community of the Ford GT enthusiasts.

 

Our European Club has obtained that the US GT Forum, associates his forces with ours, and works with us to celebrate brightly, in France, the fiftieth anniversary of 2016.

This is the culmination of much efforts and I am extremely happy with that result.

The leader of the US group and I, have established on this subject, relationships of very good quality.

 

The first consequence is that Ford Company, will officially join our event.

We are currently unable to find out exactly how, as Ford still wants to keep a few things in secret. One thing certain, is that this support will allow us to positively change of dimension.

 

The second consequence is that our Ford GT DAYS 2016 will last three weeks.

They will start at Le Mans during the 24-hour race, and finish, 3 weeks later, on the track at the "Le Mans Classic".

 

As you know, most of the event during "Le Mans Classic" is developed. However, for the part around the 24 hours, and before Le Mans Classic, everything is to be imagined and concluded in a very short time.

Many voluntary work is in front of us, with the difficulty of coordinating us with Ford and its secrets.

 

Each of you will be informed as soon as the things will be decided and publishable.

All those who have already indicated to me their willingness to be present in 2016, and those who were there in 2014 have priority.

Official bookings and deposits continues to be imagined during this Autumn.

3 SEMAINES DU MANS AU MANS.

Voici ce qui me semble une excellente nouvelle pour la communauté des passionnés de Ford GT.

Notre Club européen a obtenu du Forum GT des Etats Unis, qu’il associe ses efforts aux nôtres pour célébrer de façon exceptionnelle, en France, le cinquantième anniversaire de 2016.

C’est l’aboutissement de beaucoup d’efforts et je suis extrêmement heureux de ce résultat.

Le dirigeant du groupe US et moi, avons établi sur ce sujet, des relations de très bonne qualité.

La première conséquence est que Ford s’associera officiellement à cet évènement.

Nous sommes actuellement incapables de savoir exactement comment, car Ford souhaite encore garder un certain nombre de choses dans le secret. Une chose est toutefois certaine, c’est que cet appuis va nous permettre de changer positivement, de dimension.

La seconde conséquence est que nos FORD GT DAYS 2016 dureront trois semaines.

Ils commenceront au Mans lors de la course des 24 heures, et se termineront sur la piste, à l’occasion du « Mans Classic ».

Comme vous le savez, l’essentiel de la partie « Le Mans Classic » est au point. En revanche, pour la partie 24 heures, et celle avant Le Mans Classic, tout est à faire dans un délai désormais très court.

Beaucoup de travail bénévole nous attends donc désormais, avec la difficulté de nous coordonner avec Ford et ses secrets.

Chacun de vous sera tenu au courant dés que le choses seront décidées et publiables.

Tous ceux qui m’ont déjà indiqué leur volonté d’être présents et ceux qui étaient là en 2014 sont prioritaires.

Je pense toujours enregistrer les réservations et demander les règlements cet Automne.

In June / July 2016, Le Mans will be the center of the world for the Ford GT community :

• We will celebrate the 50th anniversary of 1966, when the Ford GT40 won the first three places of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, triumph followed by three more wins consécutives.
  
• We will live the Ford's return to endurance racing, with 4 Ford GT engaged in the 24-hours race.

 

 

Ford plans to associate the Ford GT owners in these events, in a unfortunately not yet published program.

 

In coordination with the official program, and in addition to it, the EUROPEAN FORD GT OWNERS CLUB, organizes the 2016 FORD GT DAYS in Le Mans, to welcome in France, all the owners of Ford GT, whatever their Continent of origin. The goal is to help build an unforgettable memory of these events.

 

 

Three phases are planned :

• June 18 / 19 : « The 24-hours race ». The details will be defined later, in coordination with Ford and the US Ford GT Forum.
  
• June 20 / July 7 : « Touring » on a program to be decided in close contact with those interested.
  
• July 8 / 9 / 10 : « LE MANS CLASSIC ». No other event in France, and probably in the world, will gather in the same place as many collector racing and sport cars. Almost 400 cars on the track reproduce the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1923 to 1981. More than 8,000 cars exposed by Clubs, inside the Bugatti Circuit just tell the story of the Performance Automobile.

 

 

During the 2014 « Le Mans Classic », for the first time in Europe, we gathered 24 Ford GT on the space of our club, and we made them run on the track of the 24 hours race.

In 2016, we expect 35 to 40 Ford GT from Europe and the Middle East, and we hope that fans from the USA will join us with their car.

 

Since September 2014, we made all the bookings needed to receive them, and we work to warmly welcome the Ford GT owners.

 

It is now necessary to move to the official registration of participants in that LE MANS CLASSIC phase.

Easily accessible, 20 minutes from our entry into the circuit, with a large paved parking, modern and clean. This is not a luxury hotel, but the overall quality should suit everyone. It offers 35 rooms, and will be our main hotel. To complete, when this one will be full, or for those wanting higher quality, we made also 25 bookings in a more luxury but more expensive Hotel.

The negotiated price for the Hôtel des Sittelles, is 200 € per room and per day for a minimum of three days (means € 600 for the weekend) plus € 12 for each buffet breakfast.

No other event than LE MANS CLASSIC, in France, and probably in the world, will gather in the same place as many collector racing and sport cars. Almost 400 cars on the track reproduce the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1923 to 1981. More than 8,000 cars exposed by Clubs, inside the Bugatti Circuit just tell the story of the Performance Automobile.

 

During the 2014 « Le Mans Classic », for the first time in Europe, we gathered 24 Ford GT on the space of our club, and we made them run on the track of the 24 hours race.

FORD GT DAYS 2016 au Mans Classic. 8 / 9 / 10 Juillet.

 

 

En Juin et Juillet 2016, Le Mans sera le centre du monde pour la communauté Ford GT :

- Nous allons vivre le retour de Ford au plus haut niveau de la course d’Endurance, avec 4 Ford GT engagée dans la course de 24 heures.

- Les 8, 9 et 10 Juillet au Mans Classic, nous célébrerons le 50e anniversaire de 1966, année ou la Ford GT40 a remporté les trois premières places des 24 Heures du Mans, triomphe suivi de trois victoires consécutives.

 

Aucun autre événement que Le Mans Classic, en France, et probablement dans le monde, ne rassemble au même endroit, autant de voitures de course et de sport de collection. Près de 400 voitures sur la piste reproduisent les 24 Heures du Mans de 1923 à 1981. Plus de 8000 voitures exposées par les clubs, à l'intérieur du circuit Bugatti racontent l'histoire de l'automobile de performance.

 

En 2014, au Mans Classic, pour la première fois en Europe, nous avons rassemblé 24 Ford GT sur l'espace de notre Club, et nous les avons fait rouler sur la piste de la course de 24 heures.

En 2016, nous attendons 35 à 40 Ford GT venant de l’Europe entière et du Moyen-Orient. Nous espérons que des fans viendront des Etats-Unis se joindre à nous avec leur voiture.

PROGRAMME.

Vendredi, 8 Juillet :

 

- Installation dans les deux hôtels à ​​proximité du circuit du Mans, réservé par le Club pour le week-end, « LES SITTELLES » et « MERCURE BATIGNOLLES » (Quand Les Sittelles sera complet),

- Soirée de Bienvenue au célèbre « HÔTEL DE FRANCE » lieu de mémoire et Centre de Commandement historique de l'équipe Ford Racing victorieuse 1966-1969.

- Trajet d’une heure, de nos hôtels, à l’« HÔTEL DE FRANCE » sur les petites routes utilisées dans les années 60 par le GT40 pour aller par elles-mêmes, de leur QG, à la course de 24 heures, puis de revenir, après leurs courses victorieuses.

- Photos des Ford GT devant l'Hôtel, cocktail au Champagne, dîner gastronomique, etc ...

- Retour à nos hôtels pour la nuit.

- Rassemblement et exposition des Ford GT sur le bel emplacement réservé et équipé par notre Club, à l’intérieur du circuit et à proximité des paddocks.

- Tours de piste avec nos Ford GT sur le circuit de la course de 24 heures.

• Visite libre des paddocks et contemplation des 8000 voitures de sport de collection réunies.
  
• Spectacle des courses depuis les sièges de la tribune où nous avons réservé des places.

Registrations were opened in November 2015.

After several reminders, I'll have to close them, next Thursday, May 12, 2016.

The amount of time, energy and money (incidentally), I expense to ensure the enjoyment of everyone necessarily has limits. Indecision or neglect of my dear interlocutors is one of them.

FORD GT DAYS 2016 au MANS CLASSIC.

Cher ami propriétaire d’une Ford GT.

Les réservations ont été ouvertes en Novembre 2015.

Après plusieurs rappels, je serai obligé de les clore, le Jeudi 12 Mai 2016 prochain.

La quantité de temps, d’énergie et accessoirement d’argent, que je dépense sans compter pour assurer le plaisir de chacun, a nécessairement des limites. L’indécision ou la négligence de mes chers interlocuteurs en est une.

A cette date, comme c’est malheureusement la règle pour cet évènement où la demande est très supérieure à l’offre, j’aurai personnellement payé à 100 %, les prestations sur le circuit (particulièrement les très demandés tours de piste), l’hôtelier et les restaurateurs, pour ce dont bénéficieront pendant tout le weekend, les propriétaires de Ford GT présents.

A ce jour, ils sont environ 25 Ford GT et 50 personnes, la plupart venant de très loin, qui m’ont honoré de leur enthousiasme, et auxquels je me consacrerai avec plaisir.

Aujourd’hui, je dispose encore de quelques rares réservations supplémentaires et de précaution.

Jeudi 12 Mai, je les aurai annulées.

Comme je l’ai indiqué à plusieurs reprises, je souhaite votre présence.

Malheureusement vous ne disposez plus que de quelques heures pour me retourner les documents nécessaires et le règlement correspondant.

Ford back to the future

History repeats itself 50 years later.

The Ford GT No. 67 of the Chip Ganassi Racing team that will be engaged at Le Mans this year made his 'comeback' at the Hotel de France. Yesterday morning, Monday, June 13, 2016, a crowd had gathered ‘Place de la République’. The village of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir was again at the heart of the motorsport and hosted one of the four Ford GT which are back at Le Mans this year.

From 1964 to 1969, the Hotel de France was the base camp of the Ford team involved in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Pilots and mechanics were preparing their cars in the hotel's courtyard, and then took them to the circuit, taking the ordinary public roads and the famous D304 with its dozens of kilometers of straight lines.

Yesterday, history repeated itself. Time for a half day, the Republic Square was transformed into ephemeral photo studio, orchestrated by photographer Bernard Rouffignac, to restore the photo reports carried out in the 60s. All the Hotel’s team was present for this special occasion as well as the Village Mayor, very proud to welcome the blue car.

The love story between the Hotel de France, motorsport and the 24 Hours of Le Mans began in 1952 when John Wyer, the famous team manager known for his outspoken, discovered the hotel and decided to set up its teams. In 1964 John Wyer has made his winning return with the mythical victories of the Ford GT40 in 1966, 19767, 1968 and again in 1969 with the same car.

Every year in June, the Hotel de France became the meeting place for all motorsport passionate who had come together in this small provincial village to try to see the racing cars, attend their departure to Le Mans, and of course to capture these moments.

 

 

In the early 70s, due to the technical evolution of race cars, the location of the Hotel de France (50Km south of Le Mans) made it difficult to transport race cars to the circuit. Racing Team has therefore established their headquarters near the circuit. But the strong link between the Hotel de France and motorsport has not ceased. The Hotel is now coveted by all automobile enthusiasts and collectors. His English owner Martin Overington, and his team, knew how to perpetuate the spirit and soul of this place at the effigy of the greatest hours of Le Mans. A place out of time.

Pour établir le rapport avec les photos réalisées dans les années 60, toute l' équipe de l'Hôtel était présente pour cette occasion spéciale, ainsi que le maire du village, très fiers d'accueillir la voiture bleue.

 

 

L'histoire d'amour entre l'Hôtel de France, le sport automobile et les 24 Heures du Mans a commencé en 1952 , lorsque John Wyer, le célèbre team manager connu pour son franc - parler, a découvert l'hôtel et a décidé de mettre en place ses équipes. En 1964 , John Wyer a fait son retour gagnant avec les victoires mythiques de la Ford GT40 en 1966, 19767, 1968 et à nouveau en 1969 , avec la même voiture.

Racing Team a donc établi leur siège à proximité du circuit. Mais le lien étroit entre l'Hôtel de France et le sport automobile n'a pas cessé. L'Hôtel est maintenant convoité par tous les passionnés de l' automobile et les collectionneurs. Son propriétaire Anglais Martin Overington, et son équipe, ont su perpétuer l'esprit et l' âme de ce lieu à l'effigie des plus grandes heures de Le Mans. Un lieu hors du temps.

Our weekend is on the theme of the fiftieth anniversary of 1966, the year of the first of four consecutive victories of the Ford GT40 in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

 

Friday, July 8: "On the road of the GT40, in the countryside of Le Mans."

 

- About 5 PM : Departure from the "Hôtel les Sittelles" where we sleep, in direction of the "Hotel de France" where we shall spend the evening. I recall that the little « Hôtel de France », located in the countryside, was from 1964 to 1969, the headquarters of the Ford Racing Team. Officers, pilots and mechanics were living there, and cars were parked there. Prepared for the race in the garage of the Hôtel, they rolled freely on the small country roads to reach the circuit, to race and to come back.

- We shall drive about 1 hour to cover 48 km on the very small roads smelling the GT40.

If you prefer to ride alone, you will find in your folder, a « Road Book » to go from the « Hotel Les Sittelles » to the « Hotel de France », and to return. As a precaution have a GPS in your car.

SPEED : Please note that the speed in France is regulated (90 km/h on normal roads, or even 70 km/h and 50 or 30 km/h in towns and villages. Automatic or human controls are very common, especially in this period, and the penalties can be very heavy ! Be careful.

• Around 6 PM : Arrival at the « Hotel de France « (20 Place de la République, 72340 La Chartre sur le Loir Tel. 33 (0) 2 43 4440 16).

• At 8 o’clock : Grouped Start to the runway, with the commissioners of the circuit.

 

 

CAUTION : Arriving later, you will not be able to enter on the track, and your ticket will be lost.

- At 8:30 o’clock : Launch of our Ford GT on the track.

- Back to the location of the Club, where cars are parked and exposed all day.

 

ATTENTION : I marked the locations of the cars on the ground to allow a easy opening of our big doors, and to groupe them by color and give the best aspect possible to our gathering. Thank you to be patient and kindly let you lead by Michael and me, so that your cars are parked as perfectly as possible.

PROGRAMME DES FORD GT DAYS 2016 au MANS CLASSIC

Notre weekend est placé sous le signe du cinquantenaire de 1966 et de la première des quatre victoires consécutives de la Ford GT40 aux 24 heures du Mans.

 

Vendredi 8 Juillet : « Sur la route des GT40 dans la campagne du Mans ».

• Vers 17 heures, départ de « l’Hôtel les Sittelles » où nous logeons, pour « l’Hôtel de France » où nous passerons la soirée. Je rappelle que le tout petit Hôtel de France, situé en pleine campagne, fut de 1964 à 1969, le QG de l’écurie de compétition Ford. Les dirigeants, les pilotes et les mécaniciens y habitaient, et les voitures y étaient garées. Préparées sur place pour la course, elles roulaient ensuite librement sur les petites routes de campagne pour rejoindre le circuit et en revenir.
  
• Nous mettrons environ 1 heure pour parcourir ensemble 48 km de toutes petites routes.

 

Vous pouvez également préférer rouler seul. Vous trouverez dans votre dossier, le Road-Book aller et retour de l’Hôtel Les Sittelles à l’Hôtel de France. Par précaution munissez d’un GPS.

VITESSE : Attention, la vitesse en France est réglementée (90 km/h sur route normale, voire à 70 km/h et 50 ou 30 km/h dans les villes et villages. Les contrôles automatiques ou humains sont très fréquents, surtout dans cette période, et les sanctions peuvent être très lourdes ! Soyez prudents.

Nous accédons au circuit par l’entrée EST, dont l’adresse est « Chemin aux Boeuf » (près de MM ARENA), signalée en « JAUNE A DAMIERS ». Le road-book fourni avec votre dossier, détaille la route allant de l’Hôtel à notre entrée sur le circuit.

• 7 heures 45 : Arrivée à l’espace de notre Club. ( Fléchage Jaune à damiers. Espace n° 38, à droite de la piste, au pieds de la passerelle LE MANS ORG ).
  
• 8 heures précises : Départ groupé vers la piste, encadrés par les commissaires du circuit.
  
• 8 heures 30 : Lancement des Ford GT sur la piste.

 

 

ATTENTION : Si vous êtes en retard, vous ne pourrez pas accéder à la piste, et votre ticket sera perdu.

• Retour vers l’emplacement du Club, où les voitures seront soigneusement garées et exposées toute la journée.

 

ATTENTION : Les emplacements ont été marqués au sol pour permettre l’ouverture aisée de nos grandes portières, et les voitures ont été groupées par couleur pour donner le meilleur aspect possible à notre exposition. Merci de bien vouloir vous laisser diriger avec patience par Michael et moi, pour que vos voitures soient parfaitement présentées.

• Journée libre pour voir tout ce que proposent les expositions des Clubs, les expositions officielles, les paddocks, la piste, les boutiques, etc…

 

Notre emplacement dispose d’un espace pour vous abriter, vous asseoir et vous désaltérer.

Michael sera à votre disposition pour vous aider de son mieux, en Anglais et en Français.

• Vers 19 heures, rendez vous au RESTAURANT LE BEAULIEU (près de la piste), pour l’apéritif au Champagne, puis le dîner gastronomique préparé par Olivier BOUSSARD, chef étoilé par le Guide Michelin.
  
• Nuit libre (il y a des courses rapides et des animations toute la nuit).

The weekend of 8, 9 and 10 July 2016, the European Ford GT Owners Cub had organized the 2016 Ford GT DAYS at Le Mans Classic.

The previous record was beaten, with 60 people and 25 Ford GT gathered.

Les 8, 9 et 10 Juillet 2016, le European Ford GT Owners Cub avait organisé les 2016 FORD GT DAYS au Mans Classic.

Record de participation battu, avec 60 personnes et 25 Ford GT réunies.

 

 

 

Friday, July 8, the first participants arrived at the Hotel "Les Sittelles" reserved for them, 20 minutes from the circuit.

In his room, each crew found a program, a road book his tickets and a welcome gift with Champagne and a « rally plate ».

Vendredi 8 Juillet, les premiers participants arrivaient à l’Hôtel « Les Sittelles » qui avait été réservé pour eux, à 20 minutes du circuit.

Dans sa chambre, chaque équipage a trouvé un programme, un road-book, ses tickets et un cadeau de bienvenue avec Champagne et plaque de rallye.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Everyone finds his friends or meet new ones before to take the road again and go in a group, to the welcome dinner.

In the French countryside south of Le Mans, the old trees and old houses tell a strange story.

According to them, fifty years ago, every June, superb racing cars rolled on the tiny roads between the « Hotel de France » at La Chartre sur le Loir, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit.

Younger thought they had dreamed of.

And then, on 8 June, the phenomenon reproduced.

Dans la campagne française, au sud du Mans, les vieux arbres et les vieilles maisons racontaient une bien étrange histoire.

Selon eux, il y a une cinquantaine d’année, à chaque mois de Juin, de superbes bolides de course roulaient sur les toutes petites routes entre « l’Hôtel de France » de la Chartre sur le Loir, et le circuit des 24 heures du Mans.

Les plus jeunes pensaient qu’ils avaient rêvé.

To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of 1966, I obtained from the City's authorities of « La Chartre sur le Loir » the privatization of the Central Place, in front of the Hôtel de France, for the benefit of our Ford GT.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the responsible of the Hotel de France, all the space in front the hotel was blocked to park our Ford GT. That evening, they were twenty one.

 

People from the region had move to see a gathering that had never happened before in this historic place for Ford.

Pour fêter le cinquantenaire de 1966, j’avais obtenu des autorités de la Ville, de « La Chartre sur le Loir », la privatisation de Place centrale, au bénéfice de nos Ford GT.

Grâce à l’enthousiasme des responsables de l’Hôtel de France, tout l’espace face à l’hôtel avait été bloqué pour y garer notre vingtaine de Ford GT.

 

Toute la région s’était déplacée pour voir un rassemblement qui ne s’était jamais produit auparavant dans ce lieu historique pour Ford.

The Hotel de France allowed me to privatize a terrace, part of the dining room, and to access it, the gateway to the former garage of the hotel, where in the 60s were parked the GT40 .

My goal being to promote the birth of friendly ties between owners of Ford GT, the appetizer was the opportunity to make presentations.

Each owner received in « souvenir gift », a Poster printed with his name, and with his photo, or the photo of his car in front of the famous « Dunlop Bridge ».

First, David Jones (GT101), without who this rally would not take place. David assures brilliantly the contact with the owners in the UK, and organizes their trip to Le Mans.

A big thanks to him.

Mon objectif étant de favoriser la naissance de liens amicaux entre les propriétaires de Ford GT, l’apéritif fut l’occasion de faire les présentations.

Chaque équipage a reçu en « cadeau souvenir » un Poster à son nom avec sa photo ou la photo de sa voiture devant la fameuse « Passerelle Dunlop ».

Tout d’abord David Jones (GT101), sans lequel ce rassemblement n’aurait pas lieu. David assure avec brio le contact avec les propriétaires en UK, et il organise leur voyage jusqu’au Mans.

Then it was dinner time. Same room and same setting as in the 60s, for the Ford racing teams.

At 11 o'clock, when we finished our dinner, many locals remained to witness the departure of our cars in the night.

To please them, many of our GT burned tires, under enthusiastic applause. The tiny town has longly resonated with the music of our exhaust, accompanying shouts of joy of the spectators. One of us had a so loud exhaust, that every of his strong acceleration, launched all the alarms around the Square. It was so funny, that he did it several time, on the demand of the hilarious spectators.

Everyone will remember this anniversary.

A 11 heures du soir, quand nous finissions notre dîner, beaucoup d’habitants de la région étaient restés pour assister au départ de nos voitures dans la nuit.

Pour leur faire plaisir, beaucoup de nos GT ont brûlé du pneu, sous les applaudissement enthousiastes. La toute petite Ville a longtemps résonné de la musique de nos échappement accompagnant les hurlements de joie des spectateurs. L’un d’entre nous avait un échappement si bruyant, qu’à chaque forte accélérations, il déclenchant toutes les alarmes autour de la Place.

Tout le monde se souviendra de cet anniversaire.

Saturday July 9, the day begins with the famous « laps on the track ».

Behind a safety car, our group of Ford GT will drive twice on the 13.6 Km of the famous 24 hours circuit. Recall that this circuit using public roads, it exist only once a year for the 24-hour race, and once every two years for the Le Mans Classic. So this is a rare opportunity.

Samedi 9 Juillet, la journée commence par les fameux « tours de piste ». Derrière un safety car, notre groupe de Ford GT va parcourir deux fois les 13,6 Km du fameux circuit des 24 heures. Rappelons que ce circuit utilisant des routes publiques, il n’existe qu’une fois par an pour la course des 24 heures, et une fois tous les deux ans pour Le Mans Classic. Il s’agit donc d’une opportunité rare.

This year, the Le Mans Classic exhibited about 10 000 performance cars, and gathered 123 000 spectators.

The evening on the edge of the circuit, we had gourmet dinner prepared for us, by Olivier Boussard, star chef from the Michelin Guide.

Sunday morning, most of them recovered in the calm of the Hotel, before to return on the circuit, or to go back home.
